What is Balance the Budget?
Balance the Budget is a community-based website that lets our members explore, manipulate and attempt to balance the federal budget. We divide the federal budget into four different categories: Social Welfare and Bureaucracy, National Security and Foreign Affairs, Revenue and Taxes. You can play with the budget, see what works, finish your budget, and then save it so you can send it to your friends & family, send our your budget to strangers and make some new friends, or even show your Congressional Representatives what you think your money should be spent on.
If you have more questions about the federal budget, check out the Resource Center, where we try and help you figure out the mess that is the budget. If the Balancing the Budget is too confusing, go through the tutorial, where we run you through the steps in creating your own federal budget. We've also got a long list of data that proves our budget is in worse shape than we thought. Once you're familiar with all the features on the site, be sure to check out the forums and profiles sections. We've got a bunch of users that want to talk politics and share ideas & budgets. Be sure to check Balance the Budget often, as we'll have great new content coming constantly. Every month, we've got special guest bloggers lined up from the academic, business, and political communities, who are providing commentary, insight and their own balanced budgets.
